This past Friday, July 12th, we took our tagline to heart at the company summer family picnic and made ‘em all smile : )
Under a mix of sun and clouds, with a DJ cranking tunes from the 80s to today’s hits, employees and their families gathered to enjoy one another’s company. There was something for everyone … including an impromptu nap near the fire pit for some tired souls …
The evening started off with a lot of chatting and mingling. After a company group photo, the soccer game kicked off. A highly competitive game, the Wolfpack Speed topped the Pooh Bears with a 2-1 victory. It wasn’t the only fierce competition of the night, though. There was a heated match-up at the horseshoe pit which included Gil’s “circumference rule” dispute, plus, on the basketball court, Allison held her own, giving the guys a run for their money (You go, girl!) … Not to mention a certain PM’s fashion statement of rolled-up jeans while playing hoops!
Kids enjoyed a face-painter in attendance, so there were lots of little dogs, cats, and butterflies running around … we even spotted a mustache or two! The bouncy house added some extra fun, and even I wanted to get in on the candy-filled piñata. The kids also loved the Sno-Kone machine (but not quite as much as Jamie did.)
Then there was the executive dunk tank, which gave everyone a chance to get back at the “big wigs.” For every executive dunked, $10 was donated to charity, and employees lined up to try to sink their favorite execs. Every executive ended up in the water at least five times — some through legitimate means, others through more “creative” methods. CTO Martin Fisher got the most dunks, with CEO Jason Wolfe coming in at a close second.
But it was all in good fun. The food was great, the conversation and competition were friendly, and there were smiles and laughter all around. At events like these, we are reminded that we are so very lucky to be part of a truly great “work family” such as GiftCards.com, where we keep reminding ourselves that it’s all about making ‘em smile : )
Enjoy some photos from our event…
