I recently attended the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Top Place to Work awards ceremony. As part of the competition, the Post-Gazette, through its consultant, Workplace Dynamics, surveyed over 47,555 employees from 155 companies. What do you think was the number one motivating factor for employees to come to work and work hard each and every day. It should be no surprise to you that it is feeling appreciated by their employer. If you are a supervisor, take time each day to praise your employees for a job well done (of course, only if it is deserved). If you are not a supervisor, feel free to praise your fellow employees if they deserve it.
