Wolfe Culture

During the past weeks we have had some great events for our employees and families. We had the Wolfe Company Quarterly Meeting, the Brown Bag Lunch with Jason and Doug and the Take Your Kids to Work Day. All these events give employees a chance to get together and they are just plain FUN.  Thanks to all for coordinating these events.  Doug

Working at Wolfe, LLC

What’s it like working at Wolfe?  Some would describe it as an amusement park of fun.  Others may describe it as a great place to work.  Me, I tend to call it home.  You see, home is where the heart is.  I always feel comfortable at home, cherished, respected, appreciated and wanted.  I can walk around and be me.  I enjoy being around my family and spending time with those I feel like me for who I am.  Most of our days are spent at work or sleeping and we have little time to just live.  Working at Wolfe is like being at home.  We have 90 employees that are very close and committed to make the best out of each and every day.  Our CEO cares and wants to be involved in all of our success.  I have often heard him say “I have 90 families to take care of”.  Most of us even have best friends at work!  Wolfe is somewhere I am happy to bring my kids and brag what daddy does.  Somewhere my mother and father would be welcomed like long time old friends.  You see working at Wolfe is like your with your family – and that’s why we succeed!

Omni Print upgrades greeting card envelope

Within the next week OmniPrint will begin using a new upgraded envelope with more of a greeting card look at feel. The envelope is a thicker linen paper stock that will also have a silver foil lining more resembling a greeting card that would be purchased at a brick and mortar store. Another step forward in the evolution of the greeting card product….more improvements to come!

Bring your Kids to Work Day – Success!

Today is “Bring your kids to work day’ – and we welcome your kids to our office.  We are very excited to have the 25 or so, kids here today, and we hope they learn something about what you do ~ and what we do here.  It is very special and impressive for your kids to see actual company that makes those credit/debit cards in the wallets.

I specifically want to thank the folks that helped Rick, Kevin K, Pam, Jessica, Dave D, Julie V, Jennifer C, and of course the department support for the scavenger hunt and other things.

We value family, after all its family that is top in most of our lives, right?

Jason

Quarterly Company Meeting today!

Today, we are having our Q1 company meeting to review the results from Q1 2011.  The theme of our meeting will be ‘teamwork’.   I’m excited to hear what the leadership has prepared to talk about and discuss with the team.  I know comparing Q1 2010 to Q1 2011  – we have grown 67%.  We are approaching 90 employees now.  Feels like the atmosphere here at the company is at an all time high, as we transition from being a small company to a mid sized company.  Have a great day!

We added our new Charities page.  I’m excited about the good we can do with it.  Every employee gets to select a charity of their choice – Wolfe, LLC grants them $500 plus the employee can raise more if they’d like.  At the end of the year we send a check to the Charity of choice of the employee, in the employees name.  Pretty cool http://www.giftcards.com/charity.html

Wolfe and MyCoupons Participating in TOMS Shoes’ One Day Without Shoes Campaign

The Wolfe and Mycoupons.com team are participating in TOMS Shoes’ One Day Without Shoes awareness campaign. The goal is to raise awareness of the kids throughout the world who go daily without shoes. MyCoupons.com has delivered TOMS Shoes Coupons for years and now we are asking people to kick off their shoes for one day in a show of support.

Each time someone buys a pair of shoes from their site, TOMS Shoes sends a pair to someone in the world who can not afford shoes. This Buy a Pair, Give a Pair motto has been a staple of TOMS since they were founded.

You can find out more information about the One Day Without Shoes campaign by visiting their website here.

Here is our team without their shoes.

We would love to see your bare feet, at least for today ;)

Giving Away Borders Gift Codes

Wolfe recently found a creative way to give away Borders Gift Codes before their April 3rd bankruptcy filing. In partnering with the MyCoupons team we offered up the option to download the MyCoupons Toolbar in exchange for a Free Borders Gift Code. The Gift Codes ranged in value from $25-$75.

A number of the patrons to redeem their gift codes were teachers stocking their classrooms with books, along with quite a few eager bookworms.

Overall the Borders opportunity was a success and very well received in the savings community. We will do our best to continue bringing these offers directly to you. Be sure to stay up to date by following the Coupons Blog and our Facebook page.

API Day 5

Reporting from the comfort of the Wolfe Den…

Last night we returned from the 33rd Annual Arnold Palmer Invitational.  Marin Laird won the tournament becoming the first European golfer to ever do so.

It was tiring week but a lot of fun and very productive. This was our first year at this event and it came together fast.  Exactly 3 weeks ago from today MasterCard contacted us with this opportunity to see if we could put together all of the marketing materials and produce custom MasterCard Gift Cards by the tournament.  We created two completely customized cards styles with a custom card holder, tips sheet, promotional slip, and printed thousands of each within 10 days.

MasterCard was a terrific host.  We had access to their Club tent, Trophy Suite, private offices, and the Skybox on the 18th green.  We met several professional golfers throughout the week, got a handful of autographs and brought back some cool memorabilia.

We also met some amazing people who were just attending the tournament for fun.  Many of them got to know us by name and would stop by to chat and a few went so far as to buy us a hamburger or drink.

Each night after the tournament we went out as a team to unwind and take in some of the Orlando nightlife.

We would like to extend our gratitude to the MasterCard team (especially Holly, Kevin, and Jim), Octagon Marketing, the Bay Hill Club, and the hundreds of volunteers who worked to make the Arnold Palmer Invitational a success.  We hope to see them all at this event next year.

API Day 4

Reporting from the Arnold Palmer Invitational…

Martin Laird continued to lead the field with a -11 under after three rounds.  The gallery was a  considerably larger than the day before.  Spencer Levin is just behind the leader and several pros are in the hunt.

We got a boost in morale today at our two GiftCards.com locations as our CEO (Jason Wolfe) and VP of Happiness (Jason’s Son) joined us.  Our VP of Happiness is 6 years old and is a natural salesman.  Without asking he took the flag we had signed by Arnold Palmer and went out to the crowd walking by to see if they would like to enter to win it.  Apparently no one can say no to the VP of Happiness.   He was very successful and worked for free!

API Day 3

Reporting from the Arnold Palmer Invitational…

Booth on Demand!

Another sunny day in Orlando and we have the tan lines to prove it.  Following the opening round on Thursday the MasterCard team decided to set us up with a 2nd booth location to sell the Arnold Palmer Commemorative MasterCard Gift Cards (that’s a mouth full).  The marketing & event staff quickly created a booth for us over night.  How is that for service!

Our 2nd location was set up directly across from the MasterCard Club tent.  The Club tent is huge, air conditioned, has a bar, and great viewing areas to see the green on the 9th hole as well as the practice range and putting green. On top of that, some of the pros stop in throughout the week to sign autographs and take pictures.

Earlier in the week people kept asking how they could escape the heat and get into the Club tent.  One way to do so is to but one of our gift cards so to make it easier for interested customers, we set up shop right across from the entrance.

Golfing Pro Boo Weekly (that is his real name and quite awesome if I must say so myself) stopped in the Club around 1pm to sign autographs and shortly after that Ian Poulter, who is now in the hunt for the tournament championship with a 2 under, spent 30 minutes in the tent.

Over at the MasterCard Trophy Suite, Arnold Palmer (aka The King)himself stopped in around noon to talk with everyone, sign autographs, and take pictures.  He received a standing ovation the moment he went in the tent.  Mr. Palmer is very highly regarded in the golfing world and by sports enthusiasts alike.  One of our customers told us a great story today about how he mailed a hat to The King 20 years ago asking for an autograph and received it back in just two weeks fully personalized.

Later in the day at the Trophy Suite, up and coming golf pros Brendan Steele & Matteo Manassero stopped in to chat with the fans.  Both were very friendly guys who appear to have bright careers.

Martin Laird took the lead in the tournament with a -9 under.  He shot an incredible -7 under today to take a one stroke lead on Spencer Levin.

API Day 2

Reporting from the Arnold Palmer Invitational…

Today was the first round of competition for the golf pros.  As expected, attendance much bigger than the practice rounds.  Rickie Fowler set the tone early with a minus 3 to lead the way.  After noon the wind picked up considerably and a lot of the pros struggled to maintain par.  By the end of the day Spencer Levin took the lead with a minus 6 a full 3 strokes ahead of the field.

As for the GiftCards.com team, we sold more than double the amount of Commemorative Arnold Palmer Gift Cards as we did the first day.  Each person who purchases a gift card during the tournament is eligible to win a autographed Arnold Palmer Flag Pin.  The MasterCard team was gracious enough to donate an additional autographed flag for anyone to enter to win regardless of purchase.

Later in the day, one of our team members noticed one of our hometown Pittsburgh Steelers’ players walking by our booth.  Being the Steelers fans that we are we asked him (actually we asked his wife) to stop by for a quick picture.  Here is a picture of us with Pittsburgh Steelers offensive tackle Max Starks….and no, he did not give us any info on the NFL strike :)

API Day 1

Reporting from the Arnold Palmer Invitational at the Bay Hill Club in Orlando, FL.

Today was the last practice round for the pros before the fun starts.  MasterCard set us up with a terrific tent location between the 18th and 1st tees.  We were right across from all of the major golf brands pro stations…meaning the pros who are sponsored by Titleist, Callaway, Ping, and others had high tech trailers set up to provide them with a variety of equipment options or alterations.  We noticed several PGA Players throughout the day coming in and out of the “trailers” to adjust their clubs for the big event.

Although it was just a practice round, we kept pretty busy at the tent throughout the day.  We are selling two commemorative card styles for the event…one displaying a picturesque view of the 18th hole at Bay Hill, and the other of ‘The King’ himself (his nickname), Mr. Arnold Palmer.  By far The King card was a hot seller.

As we had time, we stopped into the MasterCard Trophy Suite which was amazing.  Its located right off of the 17th green and looks like they constructed a small building.  In addition to tons of spacious seating surrounding the 17th green, the suite is blasting the air conditioning (which us Pittsburgher’s appreciate at 90 degree temps), has delicious free food, drinks, deserts, and flat screen TV’s everywhere.  Below is a pic of a part of the suite.

Arnold Palmer Invitational

A team of 6 of us are heading out this week for the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by MasterCard.  The event is held in Orlando, FL at the Bay Hill Club.  The top golfers from around the world including Tiger Woods, Ernie Els, and Phil Mickelson will all be competing.

Our valued partner MasterCard invited us to this event to sell commemorative Arnold Palmer Invitational MasterCard Gift Cards.  We have a 20×10 foot tent near the 18th green and will offer two gift card styles in values of $50 or $100.

Anyone who purchases a MasterCard Gift Card at this event also receives:

  • A 10% Discount at the Merchandise Tent & Bay Hill Pro Shop when using the gift card
  • Free access to the MasterCard Club where they can meet players, get a commemorative photo, and relax in air conditioning
  • Automatic entry to win one of 6 autographed Arnold Palmer flag pins from the event
  • A special discount code to be used after the event at GiftCards.com

We’ll be posting photo’s and updates from the event.

Flynn to Win

Team – I am thinking we need a yearly award given to the person that goes above and beyond, and acts a little crazy to succeed -per my email a month or so ago about being a little crazy.

Background:  MyCoupons dropped from 44,000 visitors per day to 28,000.  Something happened after the recent Google algorithm change.  We tried emailing, calling anyone and everyone at Google – little or no reply, and definitely no answers.  So, Kevin and Grant flew to Austin to meet with the main guy in charge of all of Google’s search spam issues – Matt Cutts.  I imagine there were thousands and thousands of people there.  Matt is probably hounded by 100,000+ people for his influence.  Flynn was determined to meet Matt.

I gave, in my mind, Kevin a 1 in 50 chance of actually meeting him….there are thousands of people at SouthXSouthWest.    I was wrong…

Kevin met with Matt – and discussed our issues – MyCoupons.com, oldest site online for coupons – yet when you search for ‘coupons’ in Google we cant be found.  We have 300,000 in bound links, etc.  Matt gave Kevin some good information and help.

But the bottom line – Kevin Flynn goes above and beyond, and we are very luck to have him work for Wolfe.com – thanks Kevin

Teamwork!

Team,

As you all know, I am big on working together here at Wolfe.com – regardless of our ‘department’ or division.   Friday, I was invited to Carissa’s B-day at BW3.  Happy Bday Carissa.

This was not planned — its just how you guys are rolling, which is GREAT!!!

The more we can work together, play together, mix together – the more success we will have.
