What is Credit Card Authentication?
To help protect you from fraud, GiftCards.com needs to authenticate your credit card in order to complete this purchase. We do this by charging 1 small (between $1.00 and $1.40) authorization on your Credit/Debit Card that you must verify before you order goes through and gets processed. If you never go through this Credit Card Authorization process, the one small charge is removed from your credit card at no cost to you. If you do complete the Credit Card Authentication process, then the one charge of between $1.00 to $1.40, is deducted from your final bill - you are NOT charged this fee in addition to the cost of your purchase.
Why do I need to authenticate my credit card?
In order to protect some customers from their credit cards being used to buy gift cards fraudulently (since Visa gift cards are anonymous and can be used like cash), we provide a level of higher security around suspect orders. Your order is a Credit Card Authentication order because of certain characteristics of your order information. Your order has NOT been canceled and your purchased cards WILL be delivered to their recipients. GiftCards.com will charge one small amount, between $1.00 and $1.40, to the credit card used to purchase your gift cards. You will verify the amount by looking at your online or paper credit card statement, or by calling your credit card company. You must then enter this amount on the Credit Card Authentication page to complete authentication, at which time we will charge your credit card for the REMAINDER of the purchase price and load the funds onto the gift card(s).
Will I always have to verify my Credit Card for all my orders?
No, you can be white listed with GiftCards.com. We do this by verifying your credit card information. We verify your credit card information through an internal process we have that we do not disclose to the public, again to reduce fraud.
