Before going to Haiti, I figured we had our own poor in the USA. But the big difference is that Americans have opportunity, and the Haitians really have very little opportunity. Haiti has 85% unemployment, average life span is 49, poorest country in the western hemisphere, and 2.2% of the population has AIDS, and now this earthquake with estimates over 100,000 dead, and many more homeless. I realize there are many places you can help, in fact even places in our own country that need help too. It's my prayer that someday Haiti changes, and whatever little help we could do - would go a long way.
