Technical Director

Wolfe.com, LLC is seeking a talented and dedicated Technology Director and Project Leader with a proven track record to join our growing technology team (currently 9 developers). The ideal candidate will have at least 7-10 years of professional experience building commercial, enterprise PHP and MySQL web applications in a production LAMP environment and leading projects through the development life cycle.

You will join a growing team working to drive Wolfe.com group of company's products from idea to commercialization and be responsible for delivering complex web software products. You will use proven, industry standard software development methodologies and processes to build robust software applications and manage a project team to complete projects.

This is an on-site position, based in our Pittsburgh, PA. office. Only local applicants who are authorized to work in the US will be considered.

Qualifications

  • 7-10+ years professional experience in object oriented PHP5 and MySQL application development
  • At least a BS in computer science or related discipline, more advanced technical degree preferred
  • Expertise building large scale web applications using Lamp technologies - PHP5, MySQL, Linux, and Apache
  • Solid understanding of object oriented programming concepts and principles a must and MVC
  • Extensive experience with MySQL
  • Project management experience a must
  • Highly organized
  • Ability to manage a team of developers on various projects through the development life cycle using continuous integration techniques and project planning/resourcing tools such as MS Project
  • In-depth knowledge of software engineering processes
  • Ability to learn quickly and take ownership of tasks, process, and products
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), time management, troubleshooting, analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • Positive, enthusiastic, energetic, detail oriented, and self-motivated
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member in a dynamic work environment

Responsibilities

  • Lead several projects at one time while managing several development resources through life cycle
  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain web software applications
  • Review business requirements and functional specifications providing analysis and feedback
  • Ability to author technical specifications document
  • Participate in project estimation, resource management and resource allocation in order to deliver projects on time and within budget
  • Deliver projects built to scope, according to agreed upon goals and requirements
  • Create and perform unit and integration tests where necessary
  • Create and maintain code documentation where necessary
  • Collaborate with business people and product owners
  • Test, diagnose, and fix defects in all developed software where necessary
  • Mentor junior development team members
  • Work with application architect to ensure that project architecture meets enterprise application architecture and CAKE PHP framework definition and guidelines

Compensation

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience with a range of $85-95k. The company offers competitive benefits, including health insurance, and profit sharing.
