Gift Local was born out of a desire to buy gift cards for local merchants without having to trek out to individual stores. National chain store gift cards are available at gift card kiosks in the mall, at grocery stores, and online. But local gift cards are only available in mom and pop locations, if at all. Gift Local changes that.

The merchants listed on our site all accept Discover card. GiftCards.com partnered with Discover to offer custom gift cards redeemable wherever Discover cards are accepted. So all you have to do is select a merchant, customize the card, and send it off!

Featured merchants are affiliated with GiftCards.com. All others are listed as a courtesy.

How it Works

It's easy. All you need to do is enter your location and search for all of the fantastic local merchants in your area that already accept Discover. Once you find the merchant you want, big or small, simply add the card to your cart, customize and checkout.

Charlotte is one of North Carolina’s largest cities, and perhaps its most important. Home to not only colleges and businesses but also many unique restaurants and shops, it is a great place to visit year-round. If you are willing to take a trip to one of the South’s most beautiful cities, you will not be disappointed.

Overstreet Mall: This is no typical mall. A maze of unique retail and dining locations, this Uptown center almost certainly requires a map to navigate. If you are a fan of dining local or checking out unique shopping locations, it is worth a trip to Overstreet Mall. There are plenty of national chains to be found in the area, but the location’s charm really lies in those shops that cannot be found outside of the Charlotte area.

Transamerica Square: If you enjoy unique shopping or architecture, you might want to stop by Transamerica square. This building takes up almost an entire city block, and the interior is filled with various offices, shops and restaurants. Whether you want to see the unique features inside or you simply want to experience some of Charlotte’s most impressive dining and shopping options, Transamerica Square is a must see.

Gateway Village: Less a specific location than a neighborhood, Gateway Village is home to quite a few of those little shops and restaurants that make a city into a marvel. If you want a taste of local cuisine or to shop in places that simply cannot be found outside of Charlotte, Gateway Village is a great place to stop. There is a great deal of available parking in the area, so it might be wise to plan on parking for the day and experiencing everything the Village has to offer.

Charlotte combines big city opportunities with small-town charm, and gives visitors a chance to relax and take in the sights. Whether you want to shop or dine, there is something for you in the city. Plan on taking a few days, though, because there is quite a bit to see.
