Gift Local was born out of a desire to buy gift cards for local merchants without having to trek out to individual stores. National chain store gift cards are available at gift card kiosks in the mall, at grocery stores, and online. But local gift cards are only available in mom and pop locations, if at all. Gift Local changes that.

The merchants listed on our site all accept Discover card. GiftCards.com partnered with Discover to offer custom gift cards redeemable wherever Discover cards are accepted. So all you have to do is select a merchant, customize the card, and send it off!

Featured merchants are affiliated with GiftCards.com. All others are listed as a courtesy.

How it Works

It's easy. All you need to do is enter your location and search for all of the fantastic local merchants in your area that already accept Discover. Once you find the merchant you want, big or small, simply add the card to your cart, customize and checkout.

One of the largest cities in the Midwest, Chicago is a place everyone should visit at least once in their lives. The Windy City is known for its giant skyscraper, its dedicated baseball fan base, and a sordid history of organized crime. The first stop for any tourist should be the Sears tower; at 1,450 feet, the Sears Tower stands as the highest building in the hemisphere. The observation deck is on the 103rd floor and allows a visitor to see over fifty miles on a clear day.

Downtown Chicago is known as the L-Loop; which comes from the L-trains that create a sort of loop around the area. An L-train is an elevated system of rails and something every visitor needs to ride at least once. There are also free trolleys in the summer that run from the Museum Campus to Michigan Avenue. The magnificent mile is the best place in the city for upscale shopping; the stores along the mile all cater to the high end area of fashion. After a day filled with shopping there is the nearby theater district for tourists that want to catch a show while in-town.

Wrigley Field is home to the Chicago Cubs; the stadium is a beautiful piece of art and a reminder of all the history in Chi-town. While the club has not had the most success, it is still possible to see the passion and dedication from true fans. Finding something good to eat is not difficult in Chicago. One of the best new restaurants is Bistronomic, which hosts fine French cuisine. Walking into the doors of the Chicago Cut Steakhouse will feel like returning to an old familiar place. The windy city is a beautiful place to visit that is full of culture and history. Chicago has many historical sites and can teach a tourist a lot about the era of prohibition.
