Merchant Description
The German-based footwear company, Adidas generally requires no introduction or explanation. Their name and logo have been a symbol of quality athletic and casual footwear for over 50 years. Most well-known for their soccer and soccer inspired shoes, Adidas currently produces footwear in almost every genre, including basketball, baseball, football, and many more. A general misconception of the brand is that Adidas is an anagram and stands for All Day I Dream About Soccer or Sports. In actuality, the brand takes its name from its founder, Adolf “Adi” Dassler, who started making his own shoes in 1924. Later, in the 1980’s the brand was then pioneered by the popular hip-hop group, Run DMC, who released the song, ‘My Adidas’. The brand’s parent company Adidas AG now owns such brands as Reebok Sportswear, Ashworth and Rockport. The Adidas logo is also one of the most recognizable symbols, today. The ‘3 stripe’ pattern has become synonymous with athletic footwear across many different sports. A little known fact is that Adidas actually has two unique logos that are used to identify the brand’s main product lines. The 3 stripe logo with the name at the bottom, is the symbol for their athletic products, while the ‘3 leaf’ logo is the symbol for their casual product line.
