Clever gift card holder is perfect for a health and beauty gift card like ULTA.
“Gifting Made Easy” by Gift Card Girlfriend
This folded gift card holder is perfect for a health and beauty gift card such as ULTA, Sephora, Bath & Bodyworks or even a department store gift card such as Nordstrom or Macy’s. All of which make great Mother’s Day gifts. The words on the front of the holder (“True Beauty is on the Inside…Really, look inside!”) offer a hint about the gift card that is waiting to be revealed. Isn’t that fun?
Though we designed this printable gift card holder with Mother’s Day in mind, it can certainly be used for a birthday gift, thank you gift or just because. Below are the steps to take to create a gift card holder of your own.
Order Gift Card and Download Printable
Printing the gift card holder is easy. The hard part is picking out which gift card to give your mom. I chose ULTA because the colors match perfectly, but you should select a gift card that your mom will like. If you’re not sure which gift card to select, read my list of Top 10 Gift Cards for Mother’s Day for some ideas.

Print and Cut
After downloading the gift card holder, print it on a color printer using “best quality” and “actual size” settings. (Do not select “shrink to fit” or any other setting that will change the size of the printed .pdf image.) White, card stock paper measuring 8-1/2″ x 11″ works best. Cut the holder with a paper cutter using the trim marks as a guide.
Make the Folded Holder
If you look at the printed side of the folded gift card holder, you’ll see that the card should be folded where the design meets the white space. Although the folded lines are clearly visible on the printed side, I measure the card so I know where to score the fold lines on the back of the card. For me, the fold lines are at the 3″ and 6-5/16″ marks.
Flip the card holder over and mark those same measurements.
Using a bone folder (or another sorta-sharp instrument you have around the house like the back of a butter knife or the edge of the plastic gift card), use a ruler to score the paper on the fold lines.
Once the card is scored, fold each side towards the middle.
Lastly, using a glue stick, seal up three sides of the bottom flap. Technically, you only need to put glue on the sides of the flap to create a pocket, but I find that sealing the bottom just a bit helps the gift card sit nicely in the middle.
Put the gift card into the pocket and write a few words on the upper flap.
Finish the Gift
With the gift card tucked safely inside this Mother’s Day gift card holder, you’re ready to present the card. Seriously, you can be done right now. I decided to add a few extra touches. To add a little extra color, I decided to add a blue backer card to the pocket.
Glue the folded gift card holder onto the backer piece. In addition to extra color, the extra card stock paper gives you the option of punching a hole in top of the backer and tying the gift card holder onto a simple gift such as a new bottle of body wash.
For a final touch, I closed the Mother’s Day gift card holder with some decorative twine. That’s it! With a just a few steps and a couple of embellishments, this “True Beauty” gift card is a real beauty!
Isn’t this Mother’s Day gift card holder adorable? I love it. I love the color, the design and the fact that it gives the recipient a little hint about what’s inside.
