Happy Owloween Werewolf Printable

Below are the instructions for making the Happy Owloween Werewolf gift card holder plus a link to order the matching gift card. I’ll take you through step-by-step instructions for this little guy, and you can you just repeat the steps for the rest of the costumed owl collection. All you really need is scissors and tape. The rest of the ideas are just suggestions.

After downloading the gift card holder, print it on a color printer using “best quality” and “actual size” settings. (Do not select “shrink to fit” or any other setting that will change the size of the printed .pdf image.) White, card stock paper measuring 8-1/2″ x 11″ works best. Cut the outline of the holder, following along the colored lines.

Once the holder is cut out, turn the paper over so that the colored side is down and the white side is facing up. The next step requires folding the four flaps (or semi-circles) toward the inside of the holder. However, I find it easiest to fold card stock paper by scoring it first. Using a ruler and a bone folder (or another semi-sharp tool you have around the house like the back of a butter knife or the edge of the plastic gift card), score the holder from corner to corner so it makes a square.

Now that you can see where the holder will be folded, it’s time to insert the gift card. For our little werewolf owl, I used decorative Halloween tape to hold the gift card in place. Down below you’ll see a couple of other suggestions.

With the gift card secured to the holder, you can fold the flaps inward. Folding one at a time, in clockwise order, fold each flap over the one to the right. When you get to the last flap, fold it over and tuck it into the first flap. The process is harder to describe than it is to do. Use another piece of tape to secure the flaps and you’re done!

Happy Owloween Vampire Printable

Ready to sink your teeth into our next Halloween owl? This guy is dressed up like Dracula and he has a pop of silver lurking beneath the covers. Check it out and see what I mean.

Before securing the vampire gift card to the gift card holder, I added a piece of silver card stock to the inside. If you want to do the same, cut out a square that measures 3.5 inches by 3.5 inches. It should fit just right. Glue the silver backing to the inside of the holder, secure the gift card with decorative tape (or a ribbon like I did) and close it up!

I used a piece of ribbon plus some double-sided tape to hold the flaps in place. I think it adds a nice touch while still keeping the gift card secure.

Happy Owloween Witch Printable

I did something a little different with this Halloween witch. Rather than fold the flaps in a circle-tuck motion, I used more of a traditional envelope fold and used ribbon to tie the holder together. I couldn’t resist using ribbon to match the witch’s broom. Too cute. Let me know which witch you prefer!

To give the inside a little pop of color, I cut a square of purple card stock measuring 3.5 inches by 3.5 inches and glued it to the inside of the holder. Then I used double-sided tape to secure the Halloween witch gift card in place.

Instead of the circle fold, I folded the two side flaps inward, brought the bottom flap up and then folded the top flap down–like an envelope. To keep the flaps secure, I punched a hole in each of the top and bottom flaps then used a ribbon to tie the two flaps together.

Happy Owloween Frankenstein Printable

This little owl might be my favorite. I’m not sure why. I just like the contrast between the green and black on the design. Using some decorative tape and green cardstock, the matching gift card inside is a perfect gift.

Like the witch gift card, I cut a square of green card stock measuring 3.5 inches by 3.5 inches and glued it to the inside of the holder. Then I used decorative tape to secure the Halloween gift card in place.

Back to the fan folding, I simply folded one flap over the next and tucked the last one under the first. Decorative tape holds the envelope together and adds a nice touch.

Happy Owloween Ghost Printable

Last but not least, we have a ghost owl to complete the Happy Owloween collection. For this gift card holder, I added some black trim and ghostly ribbon for a boo-tiful finish.

Rather than use a full square of card stock, I decided to trim the black backing to match the shape of the gift card. Then I used double-sided tape to secure both to the holder.

After folding the holder, I used some white tulle ribbon to hold the gift card holder in place. I think it’s super cute on the back as well as the front! Which side do you like best?
