The hippest holiday gift card you’ll find this Christmas includes a groovy free gift card holder to match.

“Gifting Made Easy” by Gift Card Girlfriend
Got a teenager or a tweener in the family? Then get this groovy “Hippie Holidays” Visa® gift card or one of the new multi-store gift cards and wrap it up in a boss bandana. In less time than it takes to dig up your old Grateful Dead albums, you’ll have a hippie gift card that will make any flower child happy. So, get stoked because the instructions below are super chill…oh wait, that’s 2014. I mean, the instructions below are outta sight.
1. Order Gift Card and Download Printable

The first thing to do is download either the flat or folded gift card holders and decide if you’re going to order the matching gift card or tuck cash into the holder instead. (You could also buy a store brand gift card. iTunes would be a good fit.)

2. Print and Cut
After downloading the holder, print it on a color printer using “best quality” and “actual size” settings. (Do not select “shrink to fit” or any other setting that will change the size of the printed .pdf image.) White, card stock paper measuring 8-1/2″ x 11″ works best. Cut the holder with a paper cutter using the trim marks as a guide.
If you selected the flat holder, all you have to do is affix the hippy gift card to it. Using double-sided tape or glue dots, attach the gift card to the holder in the marked spot. (Be careful not to damage the magnetic stripe.) If you’re planning to hang this cherry holder onto something else hippy-ish (e.g. peace sign sunglasses, a tie-dye kit, frisbee), then punch a hole in the top of the carrier and loop a piece of ribbon, twine or string through the opening. Then, attach it to your gift. I didn’t do that here because I have something else planned. (See below.)

3. Make the Folded Holder
If you look at the printed side of the folded gift card holder, you’ll see an ever-so-faint line that indicates where to fold the card. The lines are at the 3″ and 6-1/4″ marks.

Using a pencil, mark the back side (white side) of the carrier at those measurements.

The easiest way to fold card stock is to score it first. Although there are scoring instruments, I just use the end of a mechanical pencil without the lead. (I’ve used the back of a butter knife, the end of a pen, a toothpick…probably none of them recommended, but handy at the time.) Using a ruler and the measured marks, score the paper on the fold lines.

4. Add the Gift Card
Fold up the gift card holder as shown. Using double-sided tape or a glue stick, seal the edges of the gift card pocket, then put the gift card inside. Write a personal note in the white space above the card. Deliver this hip gift card holder as-is, tuck it inside a larger gift or punch a hole through the carrier and attach it to something extra. Both gift cards and their free printable holders are ready to gift.

Wrap it Up
Just because it’s a gift card doesn’t mean you can’t put a little funk into the finished product. I placed the flat “Hippie Holidays” gift card holder into a box (measuring five by seven inches) and then used a hipster bandana to wrap the box, using a tie-knot on top. Super fun and really cute.

Let it Hang
Another fun idea is to cover a bulletin board with the bandana and tack the gift cards to it, using happy face thumbtacks of course. You could tack other small hippie gifts onto the board as well such as flashy earrings, a peace sign keychain or a Bob Marley patch.
