A quick and easy way to deliver warmest wishes this holiday season with a free gift card printable and matching gift card.
“Gifting Made Easy” by Gift Card Girlfriend
Send someone warmest wishes with this free printable gift card holder featuring holiday snowflakes. When I saw this card design, I knew immediately that I had to slip it into a mug filled with hot chocolate fixings. So, I found this sweater mug at the dollar store and added an envelope of hot chocolate mix, some marshmallows and a candy cane. The only thing left to do was tuck the gift card inside. I opted for the folded gift card holder first and then the gift card on its own. With a taller mug, I would have hung the flat holder from the handle. They all looked cute. Read below for more instructions on how to make this easy warmest wishes gift for the holidays.
Order Gift Card and Download Printable
The fun thing about these printable gift card holders is that you have choices. You can pick a flat holiday holder and display the gift card right on front, or you can select the folded holiday holder so the card stays hidden initially. Although I prefer our matching designs, any store brand or restaurant gift card will work–as will cash or a check.

Print the Holders
After downloading the holder you want, print it on a color printer using “best quality” and “actual size” settings. (Do not select “shrink to fit” or any other setting that will change the size of the printed .pdf image.) White, card stock paper measuring 8-1/2″ x 11″ works best. Cut the holder with a paper cutter using the trim marks as a guide.
For the flat snowflake printable, I simply punched a hole through the top, strung gold twine through the opening, and added a gold snowflake for a little extra pop. I attached the snowflake gift card using a raised foam adhesive strip. I thought it might be fun to give the card a three-dimensional effect.
You could also embellish the paper and plastic a little bit more like I did with the “Peace on Earth” design.
Make the Folded Holder
If you look at the printed side of the folded printable holder, you’ll see that the paper should be folded where the snowflake design meets the white space. The fold lines are at the 3″ and 6-1/4″ marks. Using a pencil, mark the back side (white side) of the carrier at those same measurements.
Score the Folded Holder
If you try to fold card stock paper without scoring it first, you are likely to get a fat fold line that goes off course. If you score the card stock first, however, the fold will be easy, straight and look very professional. Using a ruler, score the card stock and fold it accordingly.
Add the Gift Card
When the card is folded, use tape or glue to seal the sides of the bottom flap, creating a little pocket to hold a card, cash or a check. When I made the “Extra Dough” printable, I used washi tape to hold the pocket in place. You can try that here as well.
Tuck the Card into the Mug
Now all you have to do is stuff the mug with a hot chocolate surprise. In the pictures below, you’ll see that I played around with different arrangements. I added the folded printable holder to the mug, added the card by itself to the mug, and delivered the flat holder separately. The presentation that works best for your gift will depend on the size of the mug. However it ends up, be sure to have fun giving this warm wishes gift because the recipient is sure to have fun receiving it.
Warmest Wishes Greeting Card
I think crafting gift card ideas is fun, but not everybody has the time or inclination to do the same. If I’m being honest, I don’t always have time for a fancy delivery either. Sometimes, the warmest wish you can give someone is the gift of a heartfelt note.
If you don’t have time to warm up this gift card mug, then order the snowflake gift card and select the matching snowflake greeting card carrier. Write “WARMEST WISHES” on the card’s embossed message line and include a similar sentiment on the carrier’s custom greeting.
