Subway art gift card and matching gift card holders put a new spin on Valentine words.

“Gifting Made Easy” by Gift Card Girlfriend
Following the popular subway art craze, this is a gift card with Valentine words of love and affection written in various fonts and styles. Below is a cute way to craft it up into a work of art.

Order Gift Card and Download Printable
The first thing to do is order the “Subway Art Valentine” gift card then download the matching gift card holder you want to use. Our Visa® gift card perfectly matches both the flat gift card holder and the folded one. I like both styles. The flat one showcases the card, but the folded one allows you to send the same message even if a store or restaurant gift card is inside.

Print and Cut
After downloading the holder, print it on a color printer using “best quality” and “actual size” settings. (Do not select “shrink to fit” or any other setting that will change the size of the printed .pdf image.) White, card stock paper measuring 8-1/2″ x 11″ works best. Cut the holder with a paper cutter using the trim marks as a guide.

Add Bling to the Gift Card
Although the red heart on this gift card pops out perfectly, I wanted to make it red hot! So I dabbed a little glue onto the red heart, added glitter, waited for it to dry, then dusted off the card. Turned out cute. Add the card to the flat gift card holder and you’re done!

Make the Folded Holder
If you look at the printed side of the folded gift card holder, you’ll see that the card should be folded where the black background meets the whitespace. Although the folded lines are clearly visible on the printed side, you might not know where to fold the holder once you flip the card over. So I always measure to be sure. The fold lines are at the 3″ and 6-1/4″ marks.

Using a pencil, mark the back side (white side) of the carrier at those measurements.

The easiest way to fold card stock is to score it first. Although I have used everything from a kitchen knife to the unsharpened end of a pencil, I finally bought a bone folder to make scoring the cardstock even easier. Using a ruler and the measured marks, score the paper on the fold lines.

Add the Gift Card
Fold the gift card holder as shown so it makes a little pocket, perfectly sized to hold this Valentine gift card. Using double-sided tape or a glue stick, seal the edges of the gift card pocket, then put the gift card inside. Write a personal note in the white space above the card. You can add other embellishments here if you’d like, such as washi tape, stickers or glitter.

Wrap it Up
With the gift card holders ready to roll, all you have left to do is add them to a crafty item of your choice. Becasue I like the subway art style so much, I put the folded gift card holder into a frame. (Hint: I removed the glass for the presentation so the recipient could easily open the holder to reveal the gift card.) I added the flat gift card holder to a bottle of perfume. This would look adorable attached to a bouquet of roses or a big chocolate candy kiss.

Bonus
If you want to send this subway art Valentine to your sweetheart, but need us to deliver it for you, all you have to do is order the “Subway Art” Visa gift card and select the standard greeting card option. Take a moment to personalize the gift card and greeting card combo. Add your favorite words to the card’s embossed line and another message to the inside of the greeting card. Tell us where to send the card and we’ll take care of the rest!
