For graduates of all ages, this gift card holder is perfect for a superhero graduate. Your next adventure awaits!
“Gifting Made Easy” by Gift Card Girlfriend
Although this graduation gift card holder is perfect for all age graduates, I think I like it for kids being promoted from grade school to middle school, middle school to high school and even wee ones attending preschool graduation. (Yes, I give gift cards to kids of all ages!) Deliver this holder with the perfectly matched Visa® gift card that says “Your Adventure Awaits!” or attach a favorite store or restaurant to the holder instead. I added a toy store gift card and an electronics store gift card just for fun. As you might have guessed, making this superhero graduation gift is super easy.
Order Gift Card and Download Printable
To make this super graduation gift, download the free printable gift card holder of your choice. The flat holder matches the predesigned Visa gift card that reads “Your Adventure Awaits.” The folded gift card holder matches as well, but it can also be used to hold graduate’s favorite store gift card or a restaurant gift card. Decide which gift card you want to give graduate and then pick the holder accordingly.

Print and Cut
After downloading the Super Grad gift card holder of your choice, print it on a color printer using “best quality” and “actual size” settings. (Do not select “shrink to fit” or any other setting that will change the size of the printed .pdf image.) White, card stock paper measuring 8-1/2″ x 11″ works best. Cut the holder with a paper cutter using the trim marks as a guide.
Craft the Flat Holder
The flat gift card holder can be presented as soon as the gift card is attached to it. To add a little pop, I mounted this flat holder onto a piece of red card stock paper. After I added the red, however, I started to picture the flat gift card holder as a superhero cape. I mean, this gift card is for Super Grad, after all! So I peeled back the red and trimmed the flat gift card holder first. Then I laid it back on the red and trimmed the outline accordingly. Does that make sense? Punch a couple of holes into the top and add some ribbon for the top of the cape.
If you’re giving this gift to a grade school child, tie the gift card cape onto a superhero action figure. If you’re giving the gift to a middle school graduate or junior high school graduate, tie the Super Grad cape onto a Super Soaker squirt gun or deliver it with a superhero t-shirt.
Make the Folded Holder
If you look at the printed side of the folded gift card holder, you’ll see that the card should be folded where the cityscape meets the white space and just above the Super Grad emblem. For this folded holder, I added some yellow card stock as well. Although the fold lines are visible on the printed side, I always score card stock before folding it so the creases look professional. To score the card on the opposite side, I measure the card first. For me, the fold lines are at the 3″ and 6-1/4″ marks. (Measure your card to be sure you have the same measurements.)
Using a bone folder (or another semi-sharp tool you have around the house, like the back of a butter knife or the edge of the plastic gift card), score the paper on the fold lines using a ruler as your guide.
I also trimmed the edges below the Super Grad emblem which allowed some of the city buildings to be visible when the gift card holder is folded. Using double-sided tape or a glue stick, seal the edges of the gift card pocket, then put the gift card inside. Write a personal note in the space above the card.
Although I love the matching Visa gift card that says “Your Adventure Awaits,” a store or restaurant gift card will fit as well. Kids of various ages (including grade school) are into technology, so gaming gift cards, electronics gift cards and cell phone gift cards are pretty cool. Younger kids might like a toy store gift card along with that superhero action figure. In the examples below, I added a toy store gift card.
Special thanks to Simply Designing with Ashley Phipps for sharing the free “Pow!” printable. I looked all over Pinterest to find cartoon superhero words to use with this Super Grad design and liked hers the best. Thanks for being super creative!
